After Action Review

I’ve been wondering how this game would go for a long time now. The Demons have made a mess of every army they have faced so far with their insane speed and confusing target priority. However, the Necrons have proven resilient to every foe they have seen thus far. This game was set up to be the first loss for one of the two armies.

I think the Necrons may have spread a bit thin for the approach, allowing a ragged Khorne line to slam home across the front. The part of the Demons army that I expected to do the most damage was the Soulgrinders, and they really didn’t get much done at all. Between cover and those dastardly Reanimation Protocols, they just couldn’t manage to punch down more than one or two men at a time.

However, the Demon Invulnerable Saves turned on later in the game, and for a moment the forces of Khorne were just completely invincible. The game was already swinging in favor of the Demons at that point, but it just turned into the final nail in the coffin. This was especially true when the Bloodthirster hit home. He might have taken a lot of damage after the initial charge against the Warriors, but after that he simply would not die. Between the Dark Blessing and Corpulescence rolls, coupled with the Feel No Pain Warlord Trait, he just refused to go down. With a final body count of six Warriors, five Praetorians, ten Immortals, and the Overlord, he brought back a truly mighty tally for the lord of war.

Stay tuned, more battle reports are coming soon!
