Warhammer 40,000 Battle Report #23 – Blood Angels vs Orks

The sound of cannon fire and bellowed war charges has resumed at long last in the Madden household! We’re back today with another battle report featuring the new Blood Angels. This time they will be squaring off against their old foe, the Goff Clan of the Orks!

In the last mega-battle, the Imperials suffered a heavy defeat at the hands of disorder. This left them in a position of encirclement, with many of their elements low on supplies and desperate to escape the stranglehold. As a result, they attempt the breakouts, shown in this mission.

After Action Review

This mission was going to be hard for the Imperials; we all knew that following the disastrous mega-battle that concluded the first leg of the campaign. Despite the difficulty of the mission, Josh really ratcheted up the aggression and shoved his forces home with serious strength. His goal was a breakout, and he might have achieved it were it not for those meddling dice!

I am still astounded at how many cover saves I made during the opening engagement, and it made sure that my forces were intact when the butcher’s work started. His Assault Marines took a pounding early on (I really like those Smasha Gunz!), and it left him with too little strength to break through the Ork position.

Stay tuned for the next mission, coming up soon. The Imperials will launch a daring raid to retake the guns of Heavenfall Station. Will the forces of disorder collapse under their valiant efforts, or will the difficulties of the Imperium merely be exacerbated? Stay tuned over the coming weeks to find out!
