Review
Randall:
When
I saw nine Drop Pods, I figured my Mek’s position was in serious trouble. There
were just so many Marines waiting to make planetfall, and my list was very
short on Boyz. I was missing my Stormboyz and other mounted mobs before the
game even started.
His
initial drop was successful in eliminating my screening unit of Shoota Boyz,
and though I expected the casualties I also knew I had given away a good
portion of my melee fighters. I went into point defense mode, knowing that I
would be embroiled in melee in the following turn.
Then,
the Ork dakka went to work. I was really surprised at how many kills I was able
to squeeze out of the Shooting Phase. The Killkannon and the missiles from the
Fortress really surprised me with how many casualties they caused, and then the
Orks were able to clean up the remainder. Add to that the ridiculous assault
power of Meganobz, and the Marines took some truly terrible damage on that first
turn.
With
that said, I think the Blood Angels still had some fight left in them. The
Meganobz were going to be a serious problem, given their location near the
majority of the objectives, but the plasma that was coming in on the following
turn would have presented them with some serious issues. I really think my
opponent could have made a game out of it, but I also understand that sometimes
you’ve simply had enough.
