Today we go back to Stulte Secundus, where the Imperial effort to regroup is underway. Several pockets of Imperials have been isolated and surrounded, and they are now attempting a breakout effort. After Action Review

After we deployed, I was afraid that the Blood Angels were in for a rough run of things. He focused heavily on getting off the table, which was commendable for this mission. Nothing would be moving slow, and as a result his army would be right on top of me in the early turns.

The problem came in with his limited support. The Dreadnoughts did a fantastic job of smashing the lead Warrior elements, but there was nothing in the force to contend with the siege-oriented guns of the Necron half. The Rhinos made easy prey as they tried to bring out of the encirclement, leaving the once-mobile Marines with no support to speak of.

At the end of the day, I think Razorbacks and Vindicators were in order. These would have allowed him to punch while moving at the famous Blood Angels speed. Without them, the Necrons had a very relaxed time of eliminating his lead elements. I was also happy with the Doomsday Ark. While I don’t know how useful it will be in standard scenarios, it really shined in this mission where the enemy had no choice but to come into its killing field.

Let’s hear it, players! How would you approach this mission? Let us know in the comments below!
