Review
I
have put off trying the Destroyer Cult for a long time, simply because I didn’t
have enough models to make it work. Although I barely scratch the minimum now,
I wanted to give the formation a try to see how it works out.
I
have to say that I’m impressed with their initial showing. The Heavy Destroyers
knocked out an enemy vehicle every single turn that they fired, and then provided
support against that aggravating Dark Artisan boulder. The Destroyers did less,
but they still provided a solid anchor of fire that gave the Dark Eldar a hard
time every time they broke from cover. I want to up their numbers in the future
and play an army built around them, to see how they do against something with
power armor.
The
Dark Artisan formation really put some initiative back in the Dark Eldar
corner. The ATC missions have been a struggle for the evil elves, but their
presence turned a corner of the table completely in his favor. I think he might
have been better served with a more aggressive ploy with them, dropping right
in the center of my army. That way they could have mixed it up with those
Immortals that were pressing the advantage.
In
the end, his Raider fleet just went up in smoke far too fast. The ATC Missions
are not friendly for the Dark Eldar, because they require such aggressive
maneuvering throughout the game. I honestly don’t expect to see many Dark Eldar
there anyway, and perhaps Griff’s new army would be best suited to a change of
scenery in coming games. Whatever the case may be, we will keep you posted!
