40k Video Battle Report #2 – Crimson Slaughter vs. Space Marines

With the Psychic Phase coming into existence and the Malefic chart giving me easy access to demons, I decided to give my old combined arms Chaos Marines and Demons another go. My opponent would be the Relictors 2nd Company, and my Chaos Marines would take the form of the Crimson Slaughter, for better access to Possessed.

Post-Game Thoughts

I cannot begin to describe how much fun Chaos is under the new rules set. While my Iron Warriors remain dusty and unloved for the time being, the more fanatical Chaos sects have received much love from the Conjuration powers on the Malefic chart. I didn’t summon a ton of demons into play, but those I did were really helping to swing the balance!

We did play the Conjurations incorrectly (remember, this Battle Report was filmed two days after the new rules came out), as I should have been Deep Striking the Demons into play. However, I frequently had a Cursed Earth spell in place nearby, so it mainly would have affected my placement.

I love the way the new spells interact; you can roll some Biomancy to buff your fighters, some Divination to buff your shooters, and some Demonology to increase your numbers. Each turn, I had more than enough charge to get off the powers that mattered.

This army will not be going away, although it does need some TLC in the modeling department. It is a conglomeration of kits from the past twelve years, so I will definitely need to do some paint stripping and airbrush work to bring them into line with one another.

Now the question falls to their appearance: Crimson Slaughter, or Word Bearers?

Decisions, decisions.
