DzC Video Battle Report #5 – Shaltari Tribes vs United Colonies of Man

Since we did a recent foray into the variant missions for Dropzone Commander, we decided to go ahead and take the plunge into the Attacker/Defender scenarios. This first attempt was a load of fun, with Ubii Tribe making their attempt to defend a bridgehead from the armored might of the Colonial Marines.

Reaping Hand waited patiently as the roar of incoming dropships grew louder. The human colonists were rocketing forward to their intended landing sites, before pushing onto the bridge proper. Their inefficient engines kicked up a swirl of grit as they came in for a landing.

The warstriders waited quietly in the shadows across the gently flowing river. As the enemy moved forward, Reaping Hand ordered the ambush.

“All elements, converge now.”

The Ocelots opened fire, a great explosion marking their impact. A storm of human chatter came over the intercoms, calling for reinforcements as they pushed the bridge and made contact with the Shaltari foe.

After Action Review

This game was a load of fun, and we both learned quite a bit about the specialized scenarios. It is imperative that the attacker begins his push in plenty of time, and in this game Griff ran into an insurmountable problem when he waited just one turn too late to start his advance. I also learned quite a bit about defending the bridge, and I’d love to take a shot at it from the other side, attempting to breach the spearhead and wrest it away from the UCM as defenders!

Keep an eye out for more games involving these specialized scenarios in the near future. They are an absolute blast to play, and they really encourage you to think ahead, even more so than normal games of Dropzone Commander.

Stay tuned!
